Contents
Vision Statement
- Every local government area within Australia to have its own community knoweldge base;
- Knowledge bases help make the communities they serve become more interesting and liveable;
- Knowledge bases become an essential part of a mechanism for making good decisions that benefit the community, including the development of government policy.
Mission Statement
- To encourage and enable people to become more engaged in making their local community a better place to live;
- To encourage and enable Councils and other levels of government to make decisions that will best serve their constituents;
- To help fix the dysfuntional adversarial mess that Australian politics has become;
- To help hasten and smooth out the transition to a post-scarcity society.
- The problems I wanted to solve using LGAM are the same sorts of problems facing local communities - why not try to tackle them in the same way? Challenges Register, Skills Register, Project Register;
Values
- Transparency;
- Self sufficiency;
- Future-centric;
- Collaboration.
Pitch
- Quite a few other entities are operating on the fringes of this space - (City of Whittlesea, Facebook, Google, True Local, Wikipedia, Wikinorthia), but with the possible exception of the City of Whittlesea itself, none of the above have both the desire to make the City of Whittlesea a better place to live, and a willingness to give the community control of the process.

One inwardly facing one to make the organisation more efficient, and an externally facing one for interacting with and capturing the knowledge of residents.
